Your clients are a fabulous resource for providing the right words and expressions to use in your marketing.

Their words make sense to them, so when you use their language in your content it will resonate and attract more ideal clients, just like them.

For example, when I was running a marketing coaching session for a new member of my Marketing-ACTION-PROFITS programme, he was super enthusiastic, because for ages he’s been wanting to refocus his business to work with a very specific type of client that he’s really enjoyed helping over the past few years.

He said, “I’m really excited to start moving up the value chain.”

My ears pricked up.

Moving up the value chain. This was his way of describing the benefits of developing a niche.

Listen to your Ideal Client and take note

It takes a bit of practice to get into the habit of tuning your ears into words and expressions your prospects and clients use, but well worth making a conscious effort, as it not only means you’ll be writing better content, it also avoids using jargon.

I immediately wrote down, moving up the value chain in my new notebook, My Little Book of Marketing Inspiration.

I used to find that I was scribbled insights and ideas in my general notebook and then never found them again. Or I might stick a post-it note with a blog idea on my wall, but that’s where it stayed and the more I added the messier my office looked!

Now, I put all of this valuable information in My Little Book of Marketing Inspiration, a notebook with a purpose, which I’ve created with you (and me!) in mind.

My Little Book of Marketing Inspiration. A notebook with a purpose.

The first section of the notebook is where you can capture everything you know about your ideal client. There’s also a downloadable guide with instructions explaining how to bring your ideal client to life. This is an on-going process as you never stop learning about the people you really want to work with.

The second section is where you can capture marketing content ideas that pop into your mind, often at the most random and sometimes inconvenient moments, so you never forget those little gems and they won’t remain in your head, unused and wasted.

You simply pop the headline or topic idea in the top section of the page and then add your further thoughts as the detail of the social media post or blog unfolds in your mind, until it’s ready for the final edit and, ta da, you can share it with the world.

If you’d like to have somewhere special to capture and nurture your ideal client and marketing content ideas, so you can be more consistent and creative, producing content that is relevant, interesting and inspires positive action, you can get your own copy of my notebook for £6.99 from Amazon.

Enjoy, have fun and start attracting more ideal clients.
